Common questions

Why can't I see battery health, cycle count, or charging wattage?

Apple doesn't expose any of these through a public API, so DeviceIQ doesn't show them. We'd rather leave a screen incomplete than fake a number that looks precise but isn't real.

Why is my Wi-Fi network name (SSID) blank?

Reading the current SSID requires an entitlement that isn't part of every build. If it's blank on your device, DeviceIQ genuinely couldn't read it, it isn't hiding it from you.

Why doesn't the Network Scanner find every device on my network?

The scanner sweeps your device's own /24 subnet with ICMP ping. Devices that don't respond to ping, or that sit on a different subnet or VLAN, won't show up. It also can't show a MAC address or vendor name, since iOS gives apps no access to the ARP table.

Why doesn't the Bluetooth Scanner show device names or types?

It only sees Bluetooth Low Energy peripherals that are actively advertising, using Apple's public CoreBluetooth API, which has no vendor or device-type lookup. Classic (non-BLE) Bluetooth devices aren't visible to third-party apps at all.

How do I turn analytics or crash reporting on or off?

Go to Settings and toggle Anonymous Statistics. It's off by default. Turning it on enables Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics and prompts you for App Tracking Transparency; turning it off disables both again.

Does DeviceIQ send my data anywhere?

Most of what DeviceIQ shows is read straight from your device and never leaves it. A few tools, like Email Breach Check, IP Lookup, and WHOIS, do send the value you enter to a third-party service on request, and each one says so before you use it. See the Privacy Policy for the full list.
